Beautiful Thoughts - February 7th

I think this is a nice way (or maybe not) of telling you guys that my blog is back. I don’t think I’ll be able to post too much any time soon so I’ll leave you guys with this quote and a short “review”:

“If we neglect almost any of the domestic animals, they will rapidly revert to wild and worthless forms. Now, the same thing exactly would happen in the case of you or me. Why should man be an exception to any of the laws of nature?” (Natural Law, Degeneration, p. 99)

I was browsing through my brother’s iBooks and stumbled upon this. I was reading Beautiful Thoughts by Henry Drummond and found myself addicted to it. If I’m correct, it is a compilation of quotes from different books.

I love the book because it somehow reminds me of parables in the bible and how Jesus would usually reply to his disciples with witty words. It also has its sense of epigrammatic style which I adore and find confusing at the same time.

I might post more quotes from the book soon and maybe share my thoughts about it as well. :)

“Never compare your symptoms to others. Never compare your scars, never compare your stories, never compare your pain, never compare your weight and never ever feel like you haven’t done a good enough job at being sick. Your pain and your suffering is unique and it can not be measured or classified as worse or better than anyone else.”

“For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

— Romans 12:3 NIV

Decently Deranged (Double Exposure Editing Attempt)
Got tired yesterday from editing a video. Actually, I finished the video in the afternoon. It was the rendering part that made me tired from waiting. Grabe, 12:00AM na ata natapos. Ang OA ng computer ko. I still have four more videos to edit until Thursday. Gotta “keep on swimming.” Hehe.

“Stop deceiving yourselves. If you think you are wise by this world’s standards, you need to become a fool to be truly wise.”

— 1 Corinthians 3:18

“It is okay to be at a place of struggle. Struggle is just another word for growth. Even the most evolved beings find themselves in a place of struggle now and then. In fact, struggle is a sure sign to them that they are expanding; it is their indication of real and important progress. The only one who doesn’t struggle is the one who doesn’t grow. So if you are struggling right now, see it as a terrific sign — and celebrate your struggle.”

Temporary

Until we live here on earth, darkness is always present even in the brightest corners of this world. That explains why sunlight casts strong shadows at daytime. We all encounter pains and sorrows in life, but everything is temporary. Soon everything will all fade and not a single mark of suffering will be left. So it doesn’t matter if we experience pain. We are clays molded into beautiful pots. These struggles are being thrown at us to prepare us for something perfect. Let us rejoice when we experience these things for we know that something good is waiting ahead of us. We are renting a space here on earth because our real home is inside a Kingdom.

Closed Book | Kristel Jasmine: Young Mystery
This is my cousin, Kristel Jasmine. Young as she is, she already holds many secrets in terms of her personality. The last time I made a visit, she would always hide from the camera. I’m surprised that from a shy little girl, she turned into someone who automatically poses for the camera.

“That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

Starfield - Can I Stay Here Forever?

Like a child I’ll take You at Your word
As these mountains of doubt, they fade away
I’m longing to trust and love You more
So for me this is beautiful
A brand new thought, and a brand new world
Can I stay here forever here with You?

What I’ve Been Up To Lately

“The world throws at me what they can, but this heart is easy to mend.” (Safe Place)

I’m writing a song called “Safe Place” and I just want to share a line from the song. It’s inspired from a verse from the Bible - “And all nations will hate you because you are my followers. But everyone who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22 NLT)

One of the struggles I’ve faced before (and sometimes even now) is how to confront people who do not understand or do not agree with my beliefs. One thing I’ve learned about having a personal relationship with God is that the world will think what’s happening to you is arbitrary. They will throw harsh words at you. They will think you’re silly. These things will come even if you’re not doing anything to them. It’s like an automatic switch that turns on at the very first point in your life that you have built a good personal relationship with God. Trials will come, but God tells me to stay firm and in the end I will learn to endure.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,  because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” (James 1:2-4 NIV)

This doesn’t apply only when people talk behind your back or when you get into minor fights. This includes sickness, financial problems, studies, love … every problem you could think of. It encourages and motivates me to know that when I face such trials, I will learn a very valuable lesson in the end. James 1:2-4 even tells us to be happy when facing trials. And not only that! First, your faith will produce perseverance then soon you will be mature and complete.

Indescribable

It’s amazing how God created day. I love how I would wake up in the morning with the sun telling me “Today’s another day. Make sure you live it with purpose.” I love how I would encounter smiling faces, exchanging how do you do-s and thank you-s. I love how God reminds me that things so bright and beautiful are his creations.

It’s amazing how God created night. I love how it leaves questions to my mind, leaving me curious by the wonders of everything beautiful I encounter. I love how the moon creates a mysterious feel that makes me fall into sweet reveries. I love how it allows me to escape troubles and go under a deep contemplation.
